About me

Welcome to Durham Art Therapy & Counseling. The decision to seek support for any life challenges is a big one, and finding the right therapist for you is an integral part of a successful outcome. To that aim, I will share a little more about me.

After attending art school, teaching, working in advertising in NYC, and running a small jewelry business, I decided to return to graduate school seeking a deeper meaning in my everyday work.  I received my MA in Art Therapy from New York University in 2003 and haven’t looked back. After working as an art therapist at a special needs school in NYC for a couple of years, I relocated to Durham to find a slower pace of life and to set down some roots.

Soon after moving to NC, I co-founded the Art Therapy Institute, a local nonprofit in Carrboro, in 2006. There, I worked passionately to increase visibility for the field, access to services, and create community for ourselves. Working primarily with children with special needs, and refugees, as well as serving as the Executive Director of ATI for over 10 years, it became time to again set down some new roots again, this time closer to home.

Durham Art Therapy & Counseling was borne out of this need, and through my practice, I am able to work again more closely with individual therapy clients, small groups, and provide clinical supervision and consultation, as well as get back to my own artmaking in the studio. I am thrilled to step into this role again, as therapist. To work to guide my clients to become empowered, unstuck, emotionally released, cared for, validated, and heard.

I am Board Certified, Registered Art Therapist (ATR-BC), as well as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Supervisor (LCMHC-S).
